| It all began in 1967 when DOXA decided to add a diver watch to its wristwatch collection. The idea of manufacturing a sports diver watch was unusual and challenging for a traditional and almost conservative Swiss watch manufacturer, founded in 1889, well known for elegant dress watches made of white or yellow gold utilizing very reliable high grade movements. In 1967 DOXA teamed up with the US divers co. to benefit from professional diving expertise and combined it with one century of Swiss watch making craftsmanship to develop a true state of the art diver watch. It was the Grandmaster of the American adventure novel, Dr. Clive Cussler who finally popularized the venerable orange face DOXA SUB by equipping his heroic deep-sea diver Dirk Pitt® with the legendary orange face diver watch in the late 1960's. |
